  1. Your dog will be taken care of by a fully qualified  groomer. We use professional dog grooming products. However, some pets may be allergic, please inform us if your pet requires hypoallergenic shampoo or has any other medical requirement that may impact the service (e.g. arthritis).  

  2. A minimum of 24 hours' notice is required to cancel/rebook your appointment. If you fail to do so or do not show up, we will request a £15 deposit before booking further appointments.  

  3. Please walk your dog before attending their appointment. Fouling in the salon may result in additional charges.

  4. All prices provided are estimates only. Additional charges may be incurred due to:
    • Overweight or oversized for the breed
    • Unkept/neglected coats
    • Aggressive, senior, nervous, or timid dogs that require additional handling
    • Fleas and/or ticks
    • Pet that require additional handling for whatever reason

  5. If you are over 15 minutes late we may not be able to complete the service. Please advise with the groomer if you are going to be late.

  6. A full groom can take in-excess of 3 hours for some dog breeds and is physically demanding as well as stressful for some dogs. Whilst May's Grooming make every effort to provide additional support to elderly/infirm/overweight and young dogs we cannot guarantee that your dog will be able to adequately support themselves for the duration of the groom which may result in serious health risks. There is also an increased risk of other injuries such as cuts and grazes. May's Grooming reserve the right to stop the grooming process at anytime with payment in full being due on collection of your dog.

  7. Some dogs may get an excessive  irritation from hair clipping, especially if cut short. Although minor irritation is common and normal, if your pet has sensitive skin and is prone to severe irritation and excessive itchiness please inform us prior to your appointment. We will do our best to prevent it from happening next time, but do not offer any guarantees. We are not liable for irritation caused by sensitivity as it tends to be out of our control. 

  8. We have the right to refuse service to a pet who is showing severe aggression and behaviour that may cause harm to our groomer.  Any behavioural issues must be discussed before your appointment.

  9. Due to an previous accident that resulted in a serious injury & hospitalisation we DO NOT groom cats. 

  10. Dogs with a previous history of aggression are required to arrive at an appointment with a muzzle on. 

  11. If a dog displays serious aggression during the session and causes a serious bite that breaks the groomer’s skin, full payment for the grooming will still be required, even if the session could not be completed. This covers the groomer’s time, risk, and any medical follow-up needed.

  12. A dog will be muzzled if the groomer decides that it is necessary to do so. 

  13. Owners may be present during the grooming of their dog, however, if a pet or owner is particularly nervous then it sometimes helps for the pet to be with the groomer only. Owners will be advised if this is the case. 

  14. We are unable to groom heavily pregnant dogs (over 35 days pregnant). 

  15. We will only do what is in the best interests of the dog. We may brush out minor tangles and matts as long as its not painful for the dog. Severely matted dogs will not be put through pain and stress and if we believe that trimming off the coat is the only option, we will discuss it with the owner prior to clipping.  An extra charge may be applied if this process takes
    more time than a standard clip. 

  16. Payment by cash or bank transfer is due upon collection of the pet. You will be given an estimate collection time and we will call you 15 min before your dog is ready for collection. If you are going to take longer than 15 minutes to arrive, it may result in additional charges, please discuss with the groomer if you think that you cannot arrive on time. 

  17. Please ensure contact details are kept up to date so that we are able to contact
    you if we need to discuss anything or if there is an emergency.

  18. Please note that during your dogs grooming service we may take photographs for our website and socials, please make us aware if this is not something you agree to.

  19. We have specific pet industry insurance. Please ask for more details if required.
